I was brought up on a dairy farm and decided early to become a veterinarian, actually in grade 8. I quickly gravitated to small animals as I saw the great opportunity to be able to have much more impact in helping many more animals. I graduated in 1975 from the Ontario Veterinary College at the University of Guelph. Upon graduation, wanting to return to my home town in New Brunswick, I accepted a position at RAH. Two years later, I became a partner and I’m still there. Over the years I’ve had a broad-based interest in all aspects of a small animal clinic. However over the years, I’ve gravitated towards surgery and today, orthopedics takes up over 50% of my time. My first pet was actually a one-ton Holstein bull named Rocky.
My favourite thing about the clinic is the incredible team I work with at RAH. It is so awesome to see what has been achieved, especially in the past few years at RAH. Growing three clinics all at once and by the same dedicated and passionate staff, being a regular clinic, servicing over 20 referral clinics and providing 24/7 emergency care to a large regional area and beyond. We are all very proud of the dedication and hard work of our team. It takes a large team from strong management, veterinarians, technicians, reception and animal attendants. We are not done yet! Fun fact about myself is I’m one of those CrossFit people and loving it.
